Physical Definition of Truth
The set of true thoughts can be defined as those neural events/configurations which can be connected to sensory input through application of evolutionarily constructed "rules of inference". These rules of inference can be viewed as the rules that govern the processing of sensory data in human (or other animals') minds. At lower levels this processing occurs subconsciously while at higher levels it results in conscious thoughts. At higher levels of processing, there is greater ambiguity, i.e. lower level inputs may be mapped to several possible outputs. False conscious thoughts would be the result of an application of the processing rules that mapped lower level inputs to an output that did not accurately represent reality most likely by overgeneralization, e.g. a child who has never seen a penguin having the belief that all birds can fly.
